Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come to their ignorance the hard way.

Those who classify one person as intelligent and another as dumb with only a brief glance completely misunderstand intelligence. I can reach out and touch a reader with the written word but cannot fix an engine or build a house. The opposite may be true of a mechanic or a contractor. If your car is broken down who is intelligent in the situation? And if your newspaper is short a column? Who, then, is intelligent? Perhaps we ought to say useful instead.
